Facebook Guidelines

There is no such thing as a "perfect post" or a "perfect time of day" to post on Facebook. Instead, you can devise a strategy for delivering various types of material to various categories of people at various times.

When it comes to developing Facebook material, the most important thing to remember is to stay vigilant—always looking for new ways to vary what and when you publish.

Tips

When to post?

Post when your audience is paying attention, not just when your business is open. This will result in increased user engagement. Do not, however, always post at the same time of day. Fans who tune in in the morning will be different from those who tune in in the evening.

Moods change depending on the day of the week.

  • Sundays - People are upbeat and motivated for the coming week.

  • Mondays - Morale is low but upbeat.

  • Tuesdays - People are at their lowest on The week feels as if it has only just begun. People are also the most vulnerable to advertising.

  • Wednesdays - Things are looking up for the rest of the week. People are more energized.

  • Thursdays - There's a glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel. People like to be reminded that they are in a good mood.

  • Fridays - People are checked out and ready to leave. They are easily swayed.

  • Saturdays - People are out having fun on their weekends.

The 70-20- 10 Facebook Rule

I stumbled across an infographic that provides some simple principles for what to post and how frequently to post. It's aimed at a retail' businesses, but it's also useful for service providers. It is recommended that 10% of your posts advertise your business, 20% of your posts are shared from other sites, and 70% of your posts are used to establish brand recognition.

So, here's how you may implement these rules on your company's Facebook page.

  • 10% of your posts should have a promotional bent to them

These are generally the most straightforward posts to write. Post any discounts, new services, packages, or other special offers on your page. But, as the 10% recommendation says, keep it to a minimum. If you're running a campaign for the full month of April, instead of posting information about it every day, publish it once a week on your page.

  • Sharing other people's ideas or Facebook posts should account for 20% of your posts.

This type of post isn't all awful, either, because you're getting stuff from others. Starting with your local newspaper and news outlets is an excellent idea. You can share tales about community events, fundraisers, recipes, holiday events, and other topics with your Facebook audience. It's also fantastic if you can discover something to discuss that allows you to incorporate some self-promotion.

  • 70% of your efforts should add value and increase brand recognition.

These are the most difficult posts. According to the infographic, these are the posts that demand you to be "creative" and "resourceful," which can be difficult on a Monday morning (or any time of any day frankly). A list of tips is a great place to start. If you sit long enough, you'll see that you're full with these.

Remember!

Frequency - Post 5 to 10 times per week

Tone - Discussion and Education about common interest

Purpose - Discover audience interest and audit competitors audience and content

Post - Post about your audience values including original post and shared post
